Felix Bloch was born in Paris and studied architecture and design at the École des Beaux-Arts. He became a renowned illustrator of books and magazines, and was awarded the Grand Prix de la Critique in 1932. He began writing in 1946, publishing his first short story collection, Les Écrivains et les Hommes (The Writers and Men), in 1951. His other works include Le Jardin de l'Empereur (1895), which won the Grand Prize of the Académie Française; La Femme du Jour (1931); Un Homme à l'Envers (1953); and Le Petit Bonheur (1962).
